Genesee County, MI — The restoration of the Historic Footbridge at Richfield County Park is underway. The iconic bridge, built in 1938 as part of Depression‑era Works Progress Administration effort, is one of the most popular spots in Genesee County for senior pictures. Its most basic function, however, is to connect the north and south sides of the park for pedestrians.

The suspension bridge spans approximately 90 feet across the Flint River at the 345-acre park, located off North Irish Road . This unique suspension pedestrian bridge has distinctive stone-faced concrete towers and wire‑cable design.

The restoration project, first approved by the Public Works Committee prior to full board approval last summer, is being completed by MIHM Enterprises, a Michigan-based company that specializes in the restoration of historical landmarks.
