Genesee County, MI — A brand-new hoop house is taking shape at For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum, giving our horticulture team even more room to grow.

The new addition will expand Genesee County Parks’ in-house growing operation and provide more space to cultivate native plants for future Native Plant Sales and garden installation projects throughout our county parks.

Growing more native plants in-house allows our horticulture team to support landscapes that benefit local wildlife, strengthen native habitats and add natural beauty throughout the park system.

And the next opportunity to take some of those plants home is just around the corner.

The Fall Native Plant Sale will be held Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at For-Mar. Visitors can shop a variety of native plants grown right here by our horticulture team.

We’re excited to see the new hoop house in action and the opportunities it will create as our native plant program continues to grow.
