Genesee County, MI — The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) was recognized Wednesday night during the Regular Meeting of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners with a Certificate of Accreditation from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
The certificate was presented by Laura De La Rembelje, Director of the Division of Local Health Services at the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, to Genesee County Health Officer Michelle Estell. De La Rembelje was joined by Janine Whitmire, Operations Analyst from the Division of Local Health Services (pictured above).
The accreditation recognizes that GCHD completed a site visit and identified program strengths and needs for support, aligned with Cycle 8 Accreditation standards. Those standards cover several critical public health areas, including:
- Local Health Department Powers and Duties
- Food Service
- General Communicable Disease Control
- Hearing
- Immunization
- Onsite Wastewater Treatment Management
- HIV/AIDS & STI
- Vision
- Family Planning
- Women, Infants, and Children
- Children’s Special Health Care Services
The certificate reflects GCHD’s commitment to meeting state accreditation standards and strengthening the services that support the health, safety, and well-being of Genesee County residents.
This recognition is an important milestone for the department and a testament to the dedication of its leadership, staff, and public health partners.
