Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Here’s a recap of some of the action:
Community & Economic Development
- Approved creation of the Genesee County Sports & Entertainment Commission through an agreement with Wayman Britt Enterprises.
- Approved a one-year extension of the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Services contract with Arcwood Environmental, Inc., doing business as ERG Environmental Services.
Government Operations
- Approved a lease agreement with the City of Flint for office space at the McCree Building through December 2029.
- Approved a request by the Office of Community Corrections to apply for a $658,616 grant from the Michigan Department of Corrections for FY2027.
- Approved an agreement with Mt. Morris Schools for up to $240,000 to provide educational services at the Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center for the 2026-27 year.
- Approved an agreement with Variety Food Services for up to $375,544 to provide food services at the Juvenile Justice Center.
- Approved the Prosecutor’s Office request to apply for Local Prosecutor Support Grants totaling more than $2.9 million for FY2025 and FY2026.
Finance
- Approved the 2026 Summer Property Tax Levy.
- Approved ARPA reallocation information and recommendations.
- Approved a $975,572 NOAA grant to continue work on the Flint River Restoration Project.
- Approved a $149,500 payment to Karpel Solutions for the Prosecutor’s Office records and document management system.
- Approved eliminating two Clerk Recorder positions and creating two Election Specialist positions in the Clerk/Register of Deeds Office.
Human Services
- Approved a $200,000 Michigan Department of Health & Human Services grant increase, bringing the revised total to $1,377,991, to provide water bill assistance for eligible residents.
- Approved an agreement with the Flint & Genesee Group Foundation and Genesee Area Focus Fund Summer Youth Initiative for up to $29,117 to support summer youth employment at GCCARD.
- Approved creating and filling a new Mobile Health Unit Driver position in the Health Department.
- Approved an agreement with Genesee Health System to allow for the expenditure of Genesee County’s Mental Health Millage.
Public Works
- Approved a $1.2 million C.S. Mott Foundation grant for work associated with the Grand Traverse Greenway Trail as part of the State Park in Flint.
