Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Here’s a recap of some of the action:
Government Operations & Public Works
- The Board approved $177,046.68 for an agreement with West Publishing Corporation to provide electronic legal research services for various County offices and departments.
- The Board approved $120,000 for an agreement extension with the University of Michigan to provide monthly training for County Medics.
- The Board approved up to $45,000 for BRAINS Forensic Services to provide forensic services in juvenile matters.
- The Board approved up to $250,000 for an agreement with New Paths, Inc. to provide medication-assisted treatment services through the Sheriff’s Office, fully supported by grant funding.
- The Board approved placing a renewal question for the Emergency Medical Services Millage on the August 2026 ballot.
- The Board approved a contract amendment bringing the Chevy Commons Play Garden Project design and project administration contract to a total not to exceed $1,571,800.
- The Board approved up to $233,338.73 for the CrowdStrike Falcon Cyber Security Platform.
- The Board approved listing the former Mt. Morris Court and Flushing Court buildings for sale by sealed bid.
- The Board approved reallocating $300,301 in ARPA funding for the Sentinel project at McCree and Circuit Court.
- The Board approved a construction contract not to exceed $290,000, plus a 7% contingency of $20,300, for McCree District Court Courtroom #2.
Finance and Administration
- The Board approved an amendment to Section 22 of the Genesee County Employees’ Retirement System Ordinance.
- The Board approved the 2026 Genesee County Equalization Report.
- The Board approved up to $48,206.05 for additional jail medical services expenses.
- The Board approved acceptance of the Michigan Medical Marihuana Operation and Oversight Grant in the amount of $118,123 for the Health Department.
- The Board approved receipt and filing of paid county bills totaling $19,333,462.71 for the reporting period listed on the agenda.
- The Board approved a budget amendment to the 2025–2026 Appropriations Resolution for various line items.
- The Board approved up to $50,000 for Dell computers for the Health Department.
- The Board approved reallocating $590,000 in ARPA funding to continue support for positions addressing the court backlog.
- The Board approved the fiscal year 2025 Deficit Elimination Plan for submission to the State of Michigan.
Community & Human Services
- The Board approved the Genesee: Our County, Our Future Master Plan.
- The Board approved an agreement with Huntington National Bank to provide down payment assistance to eligible participants in County housing programs.
- The Board approved up to $119,570 for expanded behavioral health services through the Healthy Start Initiative.
- The Board approved a grant award amendment bringing senior meal programming funding to a revised total of $1,072,509.
- The Board approved up to $17,956.75 for the Mundy Township Senior and Enrichment Center for the next three months as a Level 3 center.
- The Board approved up to $20,000 for Atlas Township to support an administrative assistant for the Silver Foxes.
- The Board approved an agreement with GiveDirectly for the Rx Kids program at a total cost not to exceed $1,283,040, plus an additional $498,960 contingent on matching state funding, to support prenatal and infant health in high-priority communities.
Appointments
- Jose Lopez was appointed to the Genesee County Opioid Settlement Steering Committee (Healthcare/Hospital expertise).
- Ayana Allen was appointed to the Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission.
- Myron Henderson, Brianne Boles-Marshall, and Marcus Garvin were appointed to the Genesee County Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission. In addition, Andrea Flowers was appointed to the Commission to serve in a seat designated for a Genesee County employee.
