For 50 years, Barbara Newtown has been part of the story of Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad.

Barbara began working at Crossroads Village when it opened in 1976 and remains the only current staff member who has been there since the beginning. As the Village celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026, it is also celebrating Barbara’s extraordinary 50 years of dedicated service.

Throughout five decades, Barbara (pictured above with Village Manager Scott Burnett, left, and Parks Director Patrick Linihan) has shared her time, talents, knowledge, and heart with Crossroads Village, helping preserve its traditions, welcome generations of visitors, and shape the character of one of Genesee County’s most treasured destinations.

In recognition of her remarkable legacy, the boardwalk leading to the historic carousel will be officially dedicated as Newtown Way. The dedication ensures that Barbara’s name and contributions will remain forever connected to the place she has helped shape for generations.

The Genesee County Board of Commissioners proudly recognizes Barbara Newtown for 50 years of exceptional service and thanks her for an extraordinary legacy that will always be part of the Crossroads Village story.
