Saturday’s Genesee County Day brought residents, families and community organizations together for a memorable celebration at Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad.

The free event offered a full day of family-friendly activities, live music, historic programming and entertainment throughout the Village, giving visitors an opportunity to celebrate both Crossroads Village’s 50th anniversary and America’s 250th anniversary.

Guests enjoyed everything from pony rides, kids’ activities, and the Quilts at Crossroads celebration to live music, a community parade, and the Genesee County America 250 history exhibit. County departments, local businesses, and community organizations also connected with residents during a resource fair held throughout the day.

Several special moments helped commemorate America 250, including the dedication of a Liberty Tree, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and the dedication of Genesee County’s America 250 Time Capsule. The capsule will preserve a snapshot of our community today before being opened on July 4, 2076 — America’s 300th anniversary.

The celebration concluded with fireworks over Crossroads Village, providing a fitting finish to a day centered on community, history, and the people who make Genesee County special.
