Genesee County, MI — Recently, Genesee County Animal Care was part of an extraordinary reunion between a resident and their long-lost dog, a friendly pup who had been missing for seven years.
For years, the owner searched and searched, never giving up hope that he might one day see him again. No one knows exactly where this little guy had been all that time, but what mattered most was where he was headed next: Home.
Thanks to one small but powerful tool, a microchip, Genesee County Animal Care was able to directly contact his owner and help make this incredible reunion possible.
It is hard to overstate how meaningful moments like this are. They remind us that county government is not just about programs and services. It is about people, families, and the bonds that make a community feel like home. At Genesee County Animal Care, that means protecting animals, supporting pet owners, and making reunions just like this one possible.
During National County Government Month, we are proud to celebrate the work of Genesee County Animal Care and the vital role it plays in building healthy, livable and safe communities.
