The City of Fenton is getting ready to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in a big way, and the community is invited to be part of this special moment.

The Fenton Celebrates America 250 Committee and Beautification Commission are inviting residents to join them for a Liberty Tree planting and commemorative plaque unveiling on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. in Rackham Park, behind the Fenton Community Center.

Held in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this event will serve as the official kick-off to a year of celebration in Fenton to mark our nation’s Semiquincentennial. It will be a chance for families, neighbors, and community members to gather together, celebrate local pride, and take part in a meaningful tradition tied to America’s history.

The ceremony will feature a rich and memorable program, including the history of the Liberty Tree presented by the Sons of the American Revolution, a stirring performance of The Star-Spangled Banner by the Fenton High School Ambassadors, and remarks from leaders of both the Beautification Commission and the Fenton Celebrates America 250 Committee.

Guests can also enjoy tented seating and light refreshments during the afternoon celebration.

To make the day even more special, 250 White Pine saplings will be given away at the conclusion of the ceremony on a first come, first served basis — giving attendees the opportunity to plant their own tree in honor of this historic milestone and carry the spirit of the celebration home with them.

Come be part of this exciting kick-off and help Fenton launch a memorable year of celebration for America’s 250th birthday.
