As part of National County Government Month, we want to recognize the best and brightest in Genesee County. This week, we honor our intrepid group of caregivers in Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) at the Genesee County Health Department.

The CSHCS team is responsible for nurse case management and care for approximately 2,600 medically complex clients and families in Genesee County. The nurses make home visits to develop plans of care and assist families with any issues they may be having, including billing, coordination of benefits, and obtaining specialty equipment and medications.

CSHCS representatives work diligently to ensure that clients who are in the program remain in the program by ensuring that medical reports and financial forms are submitted to Lansing for renewal.

Recently, program staff, with assistance from the supervisor and an attorney from Disability Rights Michigan, have advocated for MDHHS policy change to assure continued medical coverage and health equity among the disabled adult child population.

Thank you to every member of Children’s Special Health Care Services for the critical work you do each day to make a positive impact on the lives of the residents you serve.

Here’s the team:

  • Nurses: Elaine Kirby, Kim Ray, Melissa Boyd and Paige Hope.
  • Representatives: Laura Simon and De’Ja’va Rushin.
  • Supervisor: Kelly Pelic

April is National County Government Month

During National County Government Month, we will focus attention on the variety of services provided to residents as a reminder of our critical role in promoting healthy, safe, and livable communities across our community. With that in mind, we are first and foremost grateful for every member of Team Genesee and their role in providing the programs and services that help make Genesee County a great place to live and work. #NCGM #GeneseeCountyServes
