The Genesee County Health Department’s new mobile health unit, COMPASS — Community Outreach Mobile-unit: Providing Access, Support and Services — will be in Flint on Thursday, September 10, as part of Early Detection Day: Cancer Prevention & Awareness.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at McKinley Community Center, 249 Peer Ave. in Flint.

COMPASS is designed to bring important health services, education and support directly into communities throughout Genesee County, making it easier for residents to connect with resources where they live.

During Early Detection Day, visitors can stop by COMPASS for:

• Immunizations and vaccine education, including information about vaccination as a tool for cancer prevention
• Sexual health and family planning services and information
• An opportunity to step inside the COMPASS mobile unit and learn more about the services it can provide throughout the community

Residents are encouraged to stop by, meet the Genesee County Health Department team, and learn more about the resources available through COMPASS.
