The Historic Genesee County Courthouse will mark a century of service with a special community celebration on Friday, September 25, 2026, featuring the dedication of new public art, tours of the courthouse’s original courtrooms, and an afternoon reception.

The celebration begins at noon at the Historic Genesee County Courthouse, 900 S. Saginaw Street in Flint, and the public is encouraged to attend.

Centennial Celebration Schedule

• 12:00–1:00 p.m. — Public Art Unveiling and Dedication
  The celebration will begin with the unveiling and dedication of public art commemorating the courthouse and its place in Genesee County history.
• 1:00–2:30 p.m. — Tours of the Original Courtrooms
  Visitors will have an opportunity to step inside the historic courthouse and explore its original courtrooms while learning more about the building’s century of service to the community.
• 2:30–4:00 p.m. — Greater Flint Arts Council Reception
  The afternoon will conclude with a community reception at the Greater Flint Arts Council, 816 Saginaw Street in Flint. Guests can enjoy culinary selections from The Cork on Saginaw and Mott Community College Culinary Arts, along with live music from the Roger Jones Jazz Trio.

Celebrating a Century on Courthouse Square

The current Historic Genesee County Courthouse is the fifth courthouse to stand on Courthouse Square in downtown Flint. For 100 years, the building has served as an important center of county government and the local justice system while remaining one of downtown Flint’s most recognizable historic landmarks.

The centennial celebration offers residents, attorneys, judges, community leaders, and visitors an opportunity to recognize the significance of Courthouse Square, experience the courthouse firsthand, and celebrate a century of continuous service by the current building.

The celebration is sponsored by the Genesee County Bar Foundation, with support from the Judge Louis B. and Barbara H. McGregor Trust Fund and the Courthouse Restoration Fund, in collaboration with Genesee County, the Greater Flint Arts Council and the Genesee County Historical Society.

The public is invited to join the celebration and help commemorate this important milestone in Genesee County history.
