Genesee County, MI — Genesee County Animal Care (GCAC) has been recognized by Best Friends Animal Society for achieving and maintaining a 90% save rate during the 2025 calendar year, earning recognition as a no-kill shelter.
This milestone represents thousands of lives saved and second chances made possible by the dedication of shelter staff, volunteers, rescue partners, adopters, foster families, donors, and supporters.
The Board of Commissioners joins pet lovers across our community in gratitude for the staff at GCAC, and everyone who has supported them in their quest to create a culture of compassion and hope for animals throughout Genesee County. It is noble work and we are so proud of this accomplishment.
Thank you to our community for standing with GCAC and helping make this recognition possible.
