The Genesee County Board of Commissioners is proud to announce that its Metropolitan Planning Commission has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for achieving timely expenditure of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for five consecutive years.

This recognition is awarded to communities that consistently meet HUD’s timeliness standards, demonstrating strong financial management and the efficient administration of federal funding.

Genesee County distributes CDBG funds to cities, villages and townships for community services to address a wide range of community needs, including employment training, services for abused and neglected children, aid to local food banks, youth and senior services, and support for many other community services.

Timely expenditure of CDBG funds helps ensure that federal dollars are put to work quickly to support important local priorities. These investments may include housing initiatives, public infrastructure, neighborhood improvements and community development projects that benefit low- and moderate-income residents throughout Genesee County.

Reaching this milestone for five consecutive years reflects Genesee County’s commitment to the responsible stewardship of public funds. It also highlights the dedication and collaboration of the staff, local communities and project partners who work together to deliver meaningful and impactful investments across the county.
