The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) is raising awareness about the importance of safe storage for marijuana products, especially in households with children and pets.

Marijuana products should always be stored securely and kept out of the reach and sight of children. Edibles, beverages and other cannabis products can resemble familiar snacks or treats, making them especially appealing to young children who may not understand the risks. Keep all marijuana products in their original, child-resistant packaging whenever possible and store them in a locked cabinet, drawer or other secure location. Safe storage helps prevent accidental ingestion and protects children, pets and others in the home.
