Genesee County Parks is excited to partner with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to bring free summer programs to the New State Park in Flint.
This summer, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to get outside, explore the park, learn new skills, and enjoy hands-on activities designed for all ages. From science and outdoor recreation to fishing, these programs offer fun and engaging ways to connect with nature right here in our community.
Science Saturdays
Science Saturdays will feature guest community scientists who will share their knowledge through exciting, interactive learning experiences. Participants will have the chance to explore science in a hands-on way while learning from experts who bring their specialties to life.
Rec Wednesday
Every Wednesday, Flint State Park educators will introduce new recreation activities that encourage exploration, skill-building and outdoor fun. These weekly programs are a great way to try something new, stay active and enjoy the outdoors.
Hook, Line & Sinker
For those interested in fishing, Hook, Line & Sinker will teach the basics, including how to safely bait a hook, cast a line and identify common fish species. Fishing poles will be provided during the program, making it easy for beginners to take part.
These free programs are just the beginning of what’s happening at the New State Park in Flint this summer. Be sure to check the calendar for more great programs, events and opportunities to enjoy the park all season long.
