This week, Board of Commissioners Chairman Dale K. Weighill, honored Flushing resident Joy Fusi, who turns 100 years old on June 6. He presented her with a laudatory resolution signed by the full Board of Commissioners honoring her incredible life.

Here is the text of the resolution:

A RESOLUTION IN HONOR OF JOY FUSI, ON HER 100^TH BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners is pleased to recognize and honor Joy Fusi, a cherished resident of Flushing, Michigan, on the occasion of her 100th birthday on June 6, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Joy was born on June 6, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, and over the course of the past century has witnessed tremendous change, met life’s challenges with grace, and built a legacy rooted in strength, family, hard work, and perseverance; and
WHEREAS, Joy and her husband, Eugene, raised a loving family that includes four sons: Terry, Chad, Jimmy, and Craig; and
WHEREAS, Joy holds a unique place in Genesee County history as the mother of triplet sons, Terry, Chad, and Jimmy, who were the first triplets born in Genesee County, an occasion so remarkable that the county did not charge the family for their birth; and
WHEREAS, throughout her life, Joy demonstrated determination and independence, including through her career with Buick Motor Company, where she was a salaried worker in the powerhouse and was the only woman to hold that position, earning such respect for her work that, upon her retirement, it took two men to replace her; and
WHEREAS, Joy has lived a full and active life, enjoying golf, basketball, roller skating, and a lifelong love of reading, often keeping a book close at hand from the time she was young; and
WHEREAS, among her many cherished memories, Joy fondly recalls the wedding of her son Terry to Patty, describing it as a truly extravagant occasion unlike anything she had seen before; and
WHEREAS, Joy’s 100 years of life reflect a remarkable story of family devotion, personal achievement, resilience, and joyful engagement with the world around her; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Genesee County Board of Commissioners hereby honors and congratulates Joy Fusi on the celebration of her 100th birthday, extends its warmest wishes to her and her family, and joins the community in celebrating a life well lived and a legacy deeply cherished.
