Genesee County, MI — A nationally recognized rodeo tradition is returning to Genesee County in 2026, bringing visitors, competition, culture, and economic activity to Genesee Township.
The Genesee County Board of Commissioners is proud to sponsor the Midwest Invitational Rodeo at the Everett A. Cummings Center on June 12–13, 2026. This exciting, family-friendly event brings together rodeo competition, cultural celebration, vendors, entertainment, and visitors from across the region.
“Sports and recreation are important drivers of economic growth, and the Midwest Invitational Rodeo is a great example of how these events can create energy, attract visitors, and strengthen our local economy,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Dale K. Weighill. “We’re excited to support an event that delivers both cultural value and economic impact.”
As one of only two communities in the country hosting the Midwest Invitational Rodeo in 2026, Genesee County is honored to welcome visitors from across the region for a weekend celebrating the rich history and contributions of African American cowboys and cowgirls. Events like this showcase the strength of our community, support local businesses, and highlight the growing role that sports, recreation, and cultural tourism play in Genesee County’s economy.
We look forward to welcoming the Midwest Invitational Rodeo back to Genesee County and sharing an unforgettable weekend with residents and visitors alike.
