Genesee County, MI —Sports fans in Genesee County will have a chance to connect with two of the area’s premier teams during a special welcome reception and pep rally for the Flint City Bucks and Flint City AFC.
Presented by the Genesee County Commissioners, the event will take place on Wednesday, May 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the first-floor atrium and Community Room of the Genesee County Administration Building (324 S. Saginaw Street in downtown Flint). The reception will include food, refreshments, music, food trucks and player introductions, giving fans a fun opportunity to meet members of the teams and build excitement for the season ahead.
The event is free and open to the public.
“We’re excited to be able to host this event for an organization that has become a part of the incredible athletic tradition of Genesee County,” said Dale K. Weighill, Chairman of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. “It’s also a great opportunity to visit Genesee County’s new Administration Building, right in the heart of downtown Flint.”
The Flint City Bucks is one of the most successful semi-professional clubs in the nation, the winners of four USL national championships and, most recently, the winners of a U.S. Open Cup match against Forward Madison, a formidable professional club from Wisconsin. The Bucks have had over 110 players drafted or signed by Major League Soccer (MLS), the most of any club in the world!
Sports fans do not have to travel outside of Genesee County to seeelitesoccer players from all over the world compete for championships — players who have gone on to professional careers at the highest levels of soccer. This event is a great way for fans to come together, celebrate Flint’s soccer culture and show support for the players before another exciting season gets underway.
