Genesee County, MI — The iconic footbridge at Richfield County Park, built in 1938 as part of Depression‑era Works Progress Administration effort, is now in line for a restoration thanks to a vote of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners.
The suspension bridge spans approximately 90 feet across the Flint River at the 345-acre park, located off North Irish Road . This unique suspension pedestrian bridge, with its distinctive stone-faced concrete towers and wire‑cable design, serves as both a functional crossing and a tangible piece of county history.
The restoration project, first approved last week by the Public Works Committee prior to full board approval, will be completed by MIHM Enterprises, a Michigan-based company that specializes in the restoration of historical landmarks. The cost of the restoration is $392,486.
