On Thursday, April 24, Genesee County welcomed around 150 children of employees to participate in the annual Take Your Child To Work Day event at the Genesee County Administration Building, 7th Circuit Court and 67th District Court.

The kids were able to get their own personal employee badges in the Human Resources Department and get their photo taken in the Chairman’s seat in the Board of Commissioners Auditorium. They were able to meet several judges and learn about our court system, play bingo with our Senior Services staff, see a 3D printing demonstration from our IT staff, vote in a mock election in the Clerk’s Office and so much more! In all, 18 county offices and departments participated.

The 7th Judicial Circuit Court welcomed our kids to the Historic Courthouse and linked the event with the May 1, 2025 Law Day theme of “Out of Many, One.” The kids participated in a dialogue about what the theme is intended to communicate and how it applies to each of their lives.

Judge B. Chris Christenson and Judge Dawn M. Weier opened their courtrooms to share what duties they perform as Judges and the role of the Court.

At 67th District Court, the kids were able to meet with Judge Jennifer J. Manley.

The event is organized by Robin Jorrey from the Office of the Clerk-Register. Robin does an incredible job with this event each year, and we are excited about what is coming in the future.

What a great day in Genesee County!

I Think this is such a great thing for kids. It not only lets them know what there parent does for a living but gives them the opportunity to see what maybe they could do in the future. This is my Granddaughter and she loves going to work with her Mother. Gives her a sense of pride. Thank you for all you do for the veterans.❤️
