Genesee County, MI — At Wednesday night’s regular meeting of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners, Chair James Avery, on behalf of the Commission, honored Michelle Davis and Ellen Ellenburg at their final meeting:

Michelle Davis, 9th District

“First, the Board recognizes Commissioner Michelle Davis for her two years of service as a member of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners, where she has represented the residents of the 9th District. Michelle has also been a committed member of the Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission, where she has worked to enhance the County’s incredible recreational spaces. 

Thank you, Michelle, for your service to this Board and to the residents of Genesee County. Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors.”

Ellen Ellenburg, 3rd District

“I would also like to acknowledge the many contributions of Commissioner Ellen Ellenburg as she concludes her tenure with the Board of Commissioners. Since coming to this body in 2016, Ellen has been a strong advocate for the residents of the 3rd District and for veterans across Genesee County. She has had numerous roles on this Board during her tenure, including Chair, and has been an active member of multiple boards and committees, representing her constituents to the very best of her ability. 

As many of you know, Ellen has deep roots in this community — specifically in the City of Burton. She dedicated nearly a decade to serving its residents on the City Council before her election to this Board. Her extensive involvement in community service, from her role in the Burton Chamber of Commerce to her volunteer work with local non-profit organizations, reflects the profound impact she has made beyond the official duties of public office. 

Ellen has been a great friend and colleague to present and past members of this Board. On behalf of the Genesee County Commission and our entire organization, we want to recognize Commissioner Ellen Ellenburg for her many years of public service — and we know you have much more to give. Thank you, Commissioner. “

Two new Commissioners will join the Board next month: Gary Goetzinger (3rd District) and Brian Flewelling (9th District).
