Genesee County, MI — Since 1973, GCCARD has provided hot, nutritious meals to eligible persons throughout Genesee County.  Funded by The Older American Act through the Valley Area Agency on Aging (VAAA) and by Genesee County Senior Millage funds.

The Home Delivered and Congregate Meal Programs prevent premature and unnecessary institutionalization of seniors, keeping at-risk seniors living independently and leading self-sufficient lives.

Congregate Meal Program

This program gives seniors the opportunity to receive hot nutritious meals. They meet other seniors at different locations which are typically senior centers and senior housing complexes throughout Genesee County. The Congregate meal program reduces the isolation of seniors and provides a link to other social and rehabilitative services.

Home Delivered Meal Program

Most commonly known as “Meals on Wheels”, this program delivers a hot and cold meal as well as milk to seniors unable to leave their home or prepare a meal for themselves. Referrals are received from the Valley Area Agency on Aging and the Senior Millage through Genesee County Senior Services. Meals are available up to seven days a week, including vegetarian, diabetic, heart-friendly, renal and liquid supplements. GCCARD delivers meals to nearly 1,000 seniors daily.
