Genesee County Parks is celebrating Rose Menzies, who was honored with the Rising Star Award during the Michigan Alliance for Environmental & Outdoor Education (MAEOE) Annual Awards Ceremony in Flint.

The Rising Star Award recognizes early-career professionals who are new to the fields of environmental and outdoor education and have demonstrated leadership, innovation and best practices in their work. The award is presented annually to up to two recipients who have worked in the field for fewer than five years.

Rose was recognized for her dedication and contributions to expanding outdoor learning and environmental education opportunities at Flint’s new state park. Through her work, she is helping create meaningful experiences that give both children and adults opportunities to learn, explore and build stronger connections with the natural world.

The recognition was presented during MAEOE’s annual conference, held in Flint from Thursday through Sunday. The organization brings together educators, naturalists and environmental professionals from across Michigan who are committed to advancing environmental literacy and outdoor education.

Congratulations to Rose on this well-deserved recognition and for the important work she continues to do on behalf of Genesee County Parks and our community.
