Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Here’s a recap of some of the action:
Community & Economic Development
  • Approved a $175,000 fully grant-funded agreement with Destination by Design for marketing and branding consultation for the Genesee County Legacy Trails.
Finance
  • Approved a purchase order of $30,000 each for HI Hotel LLC and 75 Hospitality for use through the remainder of FY26.
  • Approved the creation and hiring of two full-time Park Ranger positions with Genesee County Parks & Recreation.
  • Approved a purchase order of up to $5,000 with the Mass Transportation Authority for transportation assistance.
Governmental Operations
  • Approved the purchase of a $155,612 Virage Truck Driving Simulator for workforce development through the Genesee County Jail IGNITE program, fully funded through the GIVE grant.
  • Approved an agreement with Mt. Morris Consolidated Schools for two Sheriff’s Office deputies to serve as School Resource Officers during the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Approved an application by the Prosecutor’s Office for a $294,378 2027 STOP Violence Against Women Grant.
  • Approved a $300,000 Michigan Department of Health & Human Services grant to provide representation in Family Court abuse and neglect cases.
  • Approved a contract with Lake Fenton Schools for a Sheriff’s Office deputy to serve as a School Resource Officer during the 2026-2027 school year.
Human Services
  • Approved a resolution directing Senior Services to develop a scope of service and release an RFP for case management and/or social worker services at millage-funded senior centers.
  • Approved a 3.5% funding increase for senior centers, as well as contractual increases for providers that have a waitlist for critical senior services.
  • Approved a $745,514 agreement with the Beecher Board of Education to provide an Early Head Start program through June 30, 2027.
  • Approved a $158,762 agreement with Mott Community College to provide an Early Head Start program through June 30, 2027.
  • Approved a $17,967,874 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration to support Genesee County’s Head Start Program for 2026-2027.
Public Works
  • Approved an amendment with ROWE Professional Services for up to $401,650, bringing the contract total to $985,533 for construction and engineering services for Phase 2 of the Iron Belle Trail – Atlas Connector Project.
  • Approved an agreement in the amount of $306,228 with Siwek Construction for restoration of the Attica Hotel exterior at Historic Crossroads Village.
  • Approved an agreement of up to $590,205 with Weatherseal Home Improvements Co. for cedar shake and shingle roof replacement at Historic Crossroads Village.
  • Approved a purchase order of up to $292,000 with Dell for computers and docking stations as part of the County’s scheduled technology refresh program.
  • Approved the sale of the Flushing District Court Condominium.
  • Accepted a $1 million Michigan Economic Development Corporation grant for work associated with the Flint Riverfront Restoration Project.
Appointments
  • Krystal Alexander was appointed to the Genesee County Road Commissioner for a partial term ending December 31, 2028.
  • Caitlyn Mansour was appointed to the Opioid Settlement Steering Committee.
