Genesee County, MI — Genesee County will host Remember & Rise Genesee County on Monday, Aug. 31, in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, bringing the community together to remember those lost to overdose and support efforts to protect those who can still be saved.

The family-friendly event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. at the Genesee County Administration Building, 324 S. Saginaw St.

New Paths, Inc. will also host its annual Overdose Awareness Walk prior to the event start time.  The walk begins at New Paths, Inc.’s main campus, 765 E. Hamilton Avenue in Flint at 11 a.m.  From there, participants will walk to the Genesee County Administration Building.

Remember & Rise will feature a memorial area, speakers, community resources, and more, offering residents an opportunity to honor loved ones, connect with others, and learn about resources available in the community.

The message of the event is simple: honoring those we’ve lost and protecting those we can save.

Residents are encouraged to attend and stand together in remembrance, awareness, and hope.
