Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Here’s a recap of some of the action:

Community & Economic Development
  • Approved an agreement with participating Genesee County municipalities establishing cooperation related to Community Development Block Grant funding for fiscal years 2027 through 2029, with an option for future automatic renewal.
  • Approved a resolution accepting a $3.5 million grant from the C.S. Mott Foundation to continue development of the Genesee County Legacy Trail System. The Legacy Trail system is a planned 210-mile network of connected, non-motorized trails throughout Genesee County. By filling approximately 70 miles of missing connections by 2030, the project aims to place 60 percent of county residents within one mile of a trail and improve access between communities.
Finance Committee
  • Approved a resolution accepting a $724,450 grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to support the Healthy Start Program through the Genesee County Health Department.
  • Approved a resolution adopting the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Child Care Fund Annual Plan and Budget.
  • Approved a resolution placing a renewal of the Genesee County Animal Care millage on the November 2026 ballot.
Governmental Operations Committee
  • Approved an agreement with Karpel Solutions for up to $118,000 to provide the annual subscription for the PROSECUTORbyKARPEL case-management system.
  • Approved a grant award from the Michigan DNR, in the amount of $28,700.00, to provide for the 2026 Marine Safety Program
Human Services Committee
  • Approved an agreement with the Valley Area Agency on Aging for approximately $1.12 million to support home-delivered and congregate meal programs.
  • Approved an agreement with OLHSA for up to $11.7 million to provide personnel for the 2026-2027 Head Start program year.
  • Approved a resolution providing up to $20,000 to continue Mid-Michigan Honor Flight opportunities for Genesee County veterans.
Public Works Committee
  • Approved an agreement with Logicalis for up to $131,000 over five years to provide immutable data storage and strengthen the County’s information-technology security and recovery capabilities.
  • Approved a resolution increasing the Information Technology Department’s purchasing authority by up to $140,000, bringing the total authorization for computer-related equipment to $250,000.
  • Approved a resolution accepting a $400,000 grant from the Ruth Mott Foundation to support the 2026 North Flint Public Safety Strategy through Keep Genesee County Beautiful programs.
  • Approved a resolution authorizing up to $200,000 in purchases for the Crossroads Village Ghosts & Goodies program.
  • Approved an agreement with Spartan Construction Group for up to $6.424 million to complete masonry repairs at the Genesee County Jail and Circuit Courthouse using capital-improvement funds.
