Genesee County, MI — Families are invited to spend a fun-filled day outside at the 4th Annual UAW Local 659 Flint Area Get Youth Outdoors Day, taking place Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bluegill Boat Launch, 4045 E. Coldwater Road in Genesee Township.
This free community event, in partnership with Genesee County Parks, is designed to introduce young people, ages 8 and older, to the excitement of outdoor recreation. Local union volunteers will provide hands-on introductions to activities such as fishing, BB guns, field dog training and retrieving, and more. It’s a great opportunity for kids and families to try something new, learn outdoor skills, and enjoy time together in one of Genesee County’s outdoor spaces.
Even better, the first 400 kids will receive a fishing rod and reel to keep, helping them continue building their love for the outdoors long after the event is over.
Organized by the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance and UAW Local 659, the event is free and open to the public, but participation is limited to the first 400 attendees. No registration is required. All youth participants must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
Get Youth Outdoors Day is made possible through partnerships with organizations committed to conservation, recreation, and youth engagement, including Genesee County Parks and other local and national partners.
