Genesee County, MI — Is your child starting kindergarten this fall? The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) can help you get ready. Michigan law requires that all incoming kindergarteners have documented hearing and vision screenings presented to school officials by the first day of school.

To help families meet this requirement, GCHD offers free hearing and vision screenings for incoming kindergarten students throughout the spring and summer. These screenings are offered at various school districts across Genesee County, as well as at the Health Department’s downtown Flint location. Some screening clinics require an appointment or may be held at alternate locations, so we encourage families to reach out to GCHD’s Hearing and Vision Program before they come. Don’t miss this opportunity to ensure your child is ready for a successful start to their educational journey.

For a complete schedule of upcoming screenings, please visit the Health Department’s Hearing and Vision Screening Program page.

GCHD provides services on behalf of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. GCHD is committed to enhancing community well-being in Genesee County by preventing disease, promoting health, and protecting against environmental hazards. Our mission is to create a healthier, safer environment for all residents.

Families should call 810-257-3193 or email the GCHD Hearing and Vision Screening Program at gchd-hearingvision@geneseecountymi.gov for more information, including times and locations for any of our upcoming clinics.
