Genesee County, MI — The Genesee County Board of Commissioners was proud to host the 9-member Genesee County Youth Commission on May 6, 2026, during its committee meetings.

The students are part of a program with the local MSU Extension that cultivates a better understanding of civics by focusing on the role of local government. Each year, they decide as a group on a research project and ultimately present their findings, along with potential solutions, that can be achieved at the local level.

Commissioner Dr. Beverly Brown, Chair of the Community and Economic Development Committee, was impressed by the presentation of the Youth Commission’s work related to educational equity.

“I’ve been on this Commission for four years, and this is the most impressive presentation I’ve seen from the Youth Commission,” she said.
