The following is a proclamation that was signed by the honorable judges of the 7th Judicial Circuit Court and Probate Court of Genesee County on April 27, 2026:

May 1st is the national day set aside to celebrate the rule of law. Law Day provides an opportunity to understand how law and the legal process protects our liberty, strives to achieve justice and contributes to the freedoms that all Americans share.
First proclaimed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958 and designated by Congress in 1961 as the official date of celebration, the carefully chosen words were intended to underscore liberty, justice and equality under law.
2026 is an especially important year as our country celebrates the first 250 years of its history. May all of the celebrations reflect our collective commitment to a future where we find meaning and value in each and every citizen.
On Motion of Chief Judge David J. Newblatt, of the 7th Judicial Circuit Court and the Genesee County Probate Court, the undersigned Judges do laud, honor and support the proclamation.

The theme of Law Day 2026 is “The Rule of Law and the American Dream.”

As part of Law Day, students from the following local high schools are participating in mock trials at the 7th Circuit Court: International Academy of Flint, Lake Fenton High School, Flint Cultural Center Academy and Powers Catholic High School.
