Genesee County, MI — The Genesee County Information Technology Department has been recognized with the Organizational Impact of the Year Award by the Michigan Government Management Information Sciences (MI-GMIS) Board.

The award celebrates the department’s successful project to upgrade and integrate building door access and video recording systems at the new administration building in downtown Flint. This effort not only streamlines how employees and residents enter county buildings, but also raises the level of security for everyone who works in or visits the space.
Evaluated and selected by the GMIS board, the project stood out for its clear, county-wide benefits—enhancing efficiency, safety, and peace of mind. The award underscores the IT Department’s commitment to using technology to better serve Genesee County residents and employees.
Donald Stockley, Deputy Chief Information Officer for Genesee County, was heavily involved in the project and also submitted the project for consideration. Mike Dawisha, Genesee County’s Chief Information Officer, spoke to the Board of Commissioners on Wednesday night about the honor:
