Wayne Barber, a veteran of the United States Air Force and resident of Flushing, turned 101 on Sunday, May 4.

Wayne achieved the rank of Sergeant in the Air Force and had a 40-year career at General Motors before retiring in 1986. Thereafter, he spent many years as a volunteer bus driver in Flushing.

Thank you for your service, Wayne! And here’s to many more happy birthdays.
