Genesee County, MI — Voices for Children Advocacy Center honored Genesee County Probate Judge Jennie Barkey with the 2026 Impact Award at its 31st Annual Children’s Champion Awards Breakfast, presented by United Way of Genesee County.

The 2026 Impact Award recognizes an individual whose work creates lasting and meaningful change for children in Genesee County. According to Voices for Children, Barkey’s dedication to justice, strong community presence, and genuine care for the people who come before her court reflect the values at the heart of the award.

The annual Children’s Champion Awards Breakfast celebrates individuals and organizations making a positive difference in the lives of children and families across Genesee County. Judge Barkey’s recognition highlights the important role Probate Court plays in protecting vulnerable children and supporting families during some of life’s most challenging moments.

About Genesee County Probate Court

The Genesee County Probate Court has served the citizens of Genesee County since 1836.  The Court has jurisdiction over matters related to deceased estates, wills, trusts, guardianships, conservatorships, protective proceedings, and petitions for mental health treatment.

The Court is located on the 5th floor of the historic Genesee County Courthouse, in Flint, Michigan.
