As the weather warms up and people spend more time outdoors, Genesee County residents are encouraged to stay alert for ticks, and to report them when and where they find them. The Genesee County Health Department’s Environmental Health team has created a simple reporting form for residents who discover ticks in Genesee County.
Reporting ticks and their location helps Environmental Health staff identify areas of concern, investigate tick activity, and collect specimens for disease testing. This information plays an important role in protecting public health and improving awareness of tick-borne risks in our community.
From April through September, Genesee County partners with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to monitor ticks and mosquitoes for vector-borne diseases such as Lyme disease and West Nile virus. This seasonal surveillance helps public health officials better understand where threats may be emerging and how to respond effectively.
If you find a tick in Genesee County, please follow this reporting link. Your report can help support disease monitoring efforts and keep our community informed and safe.
