With spring just one week away, the team at Genesee County Parks is looking ahead to warmer days and all the excitement that comes with a new season. While winter may still have a few moments left, it is hard not to start thinking about sunshine, fresh air, and more time spent enjoying the beauty of our parks.
Across the park system, staff are already getting ready for the busy months ahead. From preparing park spaces and planning seasonal activities to making sure popular attractions are ready to welcome visitors, there is a great deal happening behind the scenes as we count down to spring and summer.
For residents eager to get back outdoors, several favorite seasonal destinations will be reopening soon. The Bluegill and Walleye Pike Boat Launches are set to open on Sunday, April 12, followed by Wolverine Campground on Friday, May 1. Bluebell, Clover, and Buttercup Beaches will open for Memorial Day Weekend, giving families even more ways to enjoy the season.
Later in May, Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad will reopen on Saturday, May 23, with hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Looking a bit further ahead, the For-Mar Butterfly House is expected to open around mid-June, offering another favorite experience for visitors of all ages.
As spring approaches, Genesee County Parks is excited to welcome the community back for another season of outdoor recreation, family fun, and memorable experiences. Warmer days are on the way, and we cannot wait to see everyone back in the parks.
