Genesee County, MI – The Genesee County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce four open seats on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission.
The Genesee County Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Commission serves as an advisory commission to the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. This Commission is comprised of members of the Board of Commissioners, Genesee County employees and Genesee County residents.
The goals of the commission are to increase awareness of social injustice and its effects, to improve fair and equal treatment for all, to enhance the county’s reputation as being welcoming to all, and to equip and empower people to resolve social justice issues by focusing on:
- Health equity
- The Board’s policies and budget priorities
- The hiring, training, diversification, and projects related to county employees
- Public safety
- Procurement
Currently, there is 1 open seat for Genesee County Employees and 3 open seats for Genesee County residents. The terms of these open seats are for 3 years; beginning June 1, 2026 and ending May 31, 2029.
Interested individuals are encouraged to apply and share their qualifications. The Board will conduct a thorough review process to ensure that prospective appointees have the requisite skills to add value in their respective roles.
To be considered, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a registered voter and a resident of Genesee County for at least one year. Interested applicants will not be considered if they have been convicted of a crime involving deceit, fraud, or dishonesty or are delinquent on fines, fees or taxes to Genesee County.
The use of the online form is encouraged. Applicants without access to the form may also mail the information to the Board of Commissioners’ office: 324 S. Saginaw St., 10th Floor, Flint MI 48502.
The application window is open through March 21 at midnight.
To be considered, the following questions must be included in the application along with a letter of interest and résumé:
- Why are you interested in serving on this board/commission?
- What experience do you have that is related to the work of this board/commission?
- How can you add value to this board/commission?
- What factors in your life might limit your ability to serve?
- What is your philosophy about diversity, equity, and inclusion?
- Do you understand the Board of County Commissioners’ priorities and values?
