Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Here’s a recap of some of the action:
Public Safety & Justice Services
- Approved a Hazmat Team agreement with the Genesee County Associations of Fire Chiefs, not to exceed $66,774.92, for Jan. 1, 2026–Jan. 1, 2029.
- Approved State Court Administrative Office grant awards for 67th District Court: $53,650 (Legal Resource Center) and $70,000 (Operation Drive Program).
- Approved facilities-related change orders connected to justice sites: underground asbestos removal at the former Juvenile Justice Center (not to exceed $200,000) and WTA Architects specs for Jail roof/concrete structure work and Historic Courthouse snowmelt (not to exceed $116,294).
Government Operations & Policy
- Approved a change to the appointment process for the Metropolitan Planning Commission.
- Approved a proposed change to the Genesee County Planning Ordinance.
- Approved posting of four positions on the Genesee County Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (three for the public, one for a county employee).
- Approved performance expectations and professional improvement plans for the Director of Administration and Corporation Counsel.
Finance & Administration
- Approved the Treasurer’s request for 2026 borrowing for 2025 delinquent taxes.
- Approved major IT and fleet actions, including Dell computer/docking station purchases (not to exceed $65,000), a 3-year Microsoft licensing agreement totaling $857,820.57, and 2026 vehicle purchases.
- Approved purchase orders not to exceed $46,000 for water system supplies and parts.
Community & Human Services
- Approved Parks & Recreation staffing actions to strengthen programming and operations, including creation/posting/filling of Park Program Manager, Parks Reservations Coordinator, and part-time Park Naturalist positions.
- Approved a $150,000 Great Lakes Fishery Trust grant award to support Flint River Access development at the Swartz Creek confluence.
- Approved a $32,650 Greater Flint Health Coalition grant award supporting Keep Genesee County Beautiful and the Greater Flint REACH initiative.
- Approved the FY 2025–2026 contract with the City of Flint (Mays Senior and Community Service Center), not to exceed $54,744.
- Approved an agreement with MDHHS for Community Services Block Grant Services totaling $492,633 through the Community Action Resource Department.
- Approved a resolution recognizing March 2026 as Women’s History Month in Genesee County.
Appointments
- Approved the proposed change to the appointment process for the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission.
