Genesee County, MI — The Genesee County Board of Commissioners is excited to announce that the next round of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects are underway.
Genesee County received approximately $1.8 million in CDBG funds this year. These funds will support the completion of 42 projects across 21 local units of
government. Projects funded through CDBG can assist with street, sidewalk, park,
and other infrastructure improvements in low to moderate-income areas within the County. Other projects assist presumed benefit populations, like senior citizens and people with disabilities. Eligible CDBG project applications were submitted by each participating local unit of government during the 2025-2027 call for projects.
Last year, the CDBG program funded sidewalk replacements in the City of Davison, ADA picnic tables in parks across the City of Flushing, and the demolition of ten blighted properties in Genesee Township, Flushing Township, and the City of Fenton.
GCMPC’s Community Development programs support Genesee County’s goal of
community growth. These programs allow for funding to be allocated to organizations that assist low- to moderate-income residents and in areas that are
deemed by HUD to be low- and moderate-income. Projects using this funding will include new sidewalks, ADA improvements, fair housing activities, and other
activities that support the prosperity of the County.
