Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Here’s a recap of some of the action:

Public Safety & Justice Services
  • The Board approved a $963,000 Byrne Discretionary Community Project grant to continue GHOST operations, supporting efforts against drug and human trafficking through 2027.
  • Multiple State Court Administrative Office grants were approved to support specialty courts, including:
    • Adult Felony Recovery Court ($182,571 + $150,000)
    • Mental Health Court ($175,880)
    • Sobriety Court ($201,000)
    • Family Dependency Treatment Court ($144,384)
    • Veterans Treatment Court ($19,518)
      These grants sustain critical justice programming and treatment services with no County match required where noted.
  • The Board approved a $1.75M agreement with Vienna Township and Clio Area Schools to provide police and school resource deputy services for 2026.
  • A Pilot Partnership Prehospital Blood Transfusion Program between Genesee County Paramedics and the American Red Cross was approved, enabling field transfusions for trauma and emergency patients at a cost of $50,000.
  • The Board approved a $16,950 DNR Marine Safety Program grant, supporting 2025 marine safety operations.
Government Operations & Policy
  • The Commissioners approved a healthcare consulting agreement with Plante Moran, with expenditures not to exceed $175,600.
  • Furniture purchases for the 67th District Court were authorized in the amount of $25,046.14.
  • A policy amendment to the Appointment Policy (01.002) was approved.
  • The Board set Wednesday, January 7, 2026, as the date for the organizational meeting.
Finance & Administration
  • The vote to establish a new Chief Strategic Growth Officer position was postponed pending a change to the job description.
  • Routine and operational purchase orders were approved, including:
    • Medical Examiner medical supplies ($5,000)
    • Food distribution materials ($35,000)
    • Jail bedding supplies ($8,000)
  • The Board received and filed paid County bills totaling $9,495,558.35 for the weeks ending October 26 and November 2.
  • The 4th Quarter Investment Report was approved.
  • A $621,217 Community Corrections grant was approved to support corrections programming through FY 2026.
  • The Board approved various budget amendments to support grant allocations and departmental needs.
Community & Human Services
  • An agreement with Global Clinical LLC ($59,784.96) was approved to provide behavioral health services under the Healthy Start Initiative.
  • Purchase authority was approved for Medical Examiner scene investigation services, not to exceed $200,000.
  • The Board authorized opening of public comment for the “Genesee: Our County, Our Future” Master Plan.
Appointments
  • The Board approved reappointments (six-year terms) to the Genesee County Jury Board based on the recommendations of Circuit Court Judges:
    • Henry Hatter (Republican representative)
    • Karen Aldridge-Eason (Democratic representative)
