Honoring the hard work of our teammates is a tell-tale sign of a positive organizational culture. We cannot offer top-shelf programs and services to the residents of Genesee County without great people who are committed to their work every day.
So here’s to Lauren Thompson (Partnerships & Communications Specialist in Veterans Services) and Bailey Talaska (HR Representative) who helped propel the county to a new milestone in service to our Veterans.
Bailey and Lauren worked collaboratively to submit an application to the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency in order for Genesee County to be recognized as an employer committed to veteran recruitment, training, and retention practices. As a result, Genesee County is now recognized as a Silver-Level Veteran-Friendly Employer in the State of Michigan.
Lauren and Bailey’s work reflects the county’s commitment to veterans: their recruitment, onboarding, retention, and long-term support. By carefully aligning the county’s hiring practices with MVAA standards, they helped ensure veteran-focused hiring and outreach will always be a priority in Genesee County.
The ongoing collaboration between the Veterans Services Department and HR has led to Genesee County becoming a workplace where veteran skills like leadership, mission-driven discipline and teamwork are respected and utilized in service to residents.
With this Silver-Level recognition, Genesee County moves closer to its goal of Gold status.
Thank you, Lauren and Bailey!
