On GIS Day, November 19, we celebrate geographic information systems (GIS)-based technologies that make our world more navigable and relatable. We are fortunate to have an intrepid staff of three in our GIS Department who support our organization as well as cities, townships, and villages across the county.

GIS offers vital tools for counties because they transform complex data into clear, visual insights that strengthen planning and decision-making. From mapping infrastructure and managing land use to supporting emergency response, elections, and environmental conservation, GIS helps counties understand where services are needed most and how resources can be used effectively.
