Genesee County, MI — After nearly two decades of decay and vandalism, demolition has begun at the former Westwood Manor Apartments on Clio Road, one of the county’s most persistent and visible distressed properties. The project marks a major step forward for neighborhood revitalization in Mt. Morris Township and reflects Genesee County’s continued commitment to removing long-standing obstacles to economic and community growth.
This project, which began last week, is being led by the Genesee County Land Bank, but its progress was made possible by investments from the Board of Commissioners and the Treasurer’s Office. Last year, the Board approved $350,000 in federal stimulus (ARPA) funds to support the demolition of the remaining structures on the site. County Treasurer Sam Muma committed an additional $410,000 from the Treasurer’s Office to complete the work.
The Board’s investment in this project underscores its commitment to healthy, livable and safe communities in Genesee County.
