Statement from Genesee County Board of Commissioners Chairman Delrico J. Loyd on the tragic mass shooting in Grand Blanc Township on Sunday, September 28:

“I am profoundly saddened by the senseless shooting that took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc on Sunday. A place of worship should always be a refuge of peace and solace, not violence.

On behalf of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners, I extend our most heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims. We stand in solidarity with the congregation, the Grand Blanc Township community, and all those mourning in the wake of this tragedy.

We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and for those who are tasked with their care.

We are grateful for the heroics of first responders and law enforcement officers who rushed to the scene this morning.

Genesee County stands at the ready to assist in any way we can.”
