Genesee County, MI — The Genesee County Board of Commissioners prioritizes healthy, safe and livable communities across Genesee County. The Board’s support of the Southern Lakes Water Extension Project is a great example of this priority. This project is the largest expansion of the county’s water distribution system in more than 50 years.
The Board invested more than $8 million in APRA funds to ensure that more residents in the southern part of Genesee County (District 6) would have access to the Genesee County Water System (GCWS).

The Thompson Road allocation ($6,750,000) and the Linden City allocation ($1,500,000) were parts of Phase 1 and 3, respectively, of the project.
When the City of Linden officially changed over its groundwater system to service from GCWS, the change not only increased water pressure for residents but also reduced mineral content in the water, eliminating the need for many to utilize water softeners.
Onward and upward in Genesee County!
