Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Here’s a recap of some of the action:
- Approved funding for the 51st Annual Gus Macker Tournament. The Gus Macker is an annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament that raises money for the Salvation Army Life Center and brings in teams from all over Michigan.
- Accepted a $1,030,000 grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation for non-motorized trails in Grand Blanc Township, City of Fenton, and City of Burton. Click here for more information.
- Approved a $100,000 agreement with The Ally Challenge for tournament sponsorship in 2025 and 2026, funded by the Accommodation Tax Fund. This tournament features the best players from the PGA Tour Champions (formerly Senior PGA Tour). It attracts players from all over the world and thousands of fans from across the region.
- Approved a purchase order not to exceed $36,731.82 to GLOBO Holdings LLC for interpretation and translation services for the Health Department.
- Approved application for a $219,945 Auto Theft Grant with a 50% match requirement.
- Approved application for a $630,677.10 grant from Michigan DOC for FY 2026 Community Corrections.
- Accepted a $15,713,491 federal grant for the Head Start Program.
- Approved an agreement not to exceed $11,643,205 with Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency for Head Start and Early Head Start programs for 2025–2026.
- Approved a $150,000 agreement with Hobbs + Black Architects for a county space study.
- Approved a resolution marking July as Disability Pride Month. This commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. The resolution was put forth by Commissioner Dale K. Weighill.
