Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Here’s a recap of some of the action:
- Approved an amendment of a contract between Genesee County and Valley Area Agency on Aging in the amount of $108,900 to provide for additional meals for senior citizens in Genesee County.
- Approved an agreement between Genesee County and the Michigan Department of Attorney General to provide for up to four grant-funded Special Assistant Attorney General positions.
- Lesly Foreman and Ian Shetron were appointed to seats on the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission. Both are residents of District 8 and nominated by Commissioner Dale K. Weighill.
- Approved an agreement between Genesee County and the Greater Flint Health Coalition in an amount not to exceed $500,000 to provide for Medicaid Outreach Services on behalf of the county.
- Approved a debt management policy to ensure long-term financial stability, minimize borrowing costs, and mitigate risks associated with debt, ultimately supporting sustainable fiscal policy and economic growth.
- Approved a purchase agreement not to exceed $300,000 for 452 S. Saginaw Street in Flint. The property will become the new home of the MSU-Extension and will be paid for using fund balance from its millage fund.
- Approved a resolution recognizing May 2025 as Jewish American Heritage Month, a time to honor and celebrate the contributions of Jewish Americans to American history, culture, and society.
