Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Here’s a recap of some of the action:

  • Received the 2024 Audit Report from Plante Moran, the 2025 Equalization Report from Equalization Director Mellissa Hayduk and an update from Prosecutor David Leyton on recent Michigan Supreme Court rulings.
  • Approved the following appointments: Joe Massey to the Genesee County Road Commission, Leah Johnson to the Genesee District Library Board, and Mark Richard as the Small Cities & Villages representative on Genesee County’s Allocation Committee.
  • Approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Board of County Commissioners and the Judges of the 67th District Court on limited court consolidation. Click here to read the MOU announcement.
  • Approved resolutions recognizing April 2025 as Arab American Heritage Month, April 2025 as National County Government Month and April 13-19, 2025, as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
  • Approved the 2025 Genesee County Equalization Report.
  • Approved an agreement between Genesee County and the Flint & Genesee Group in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000, to provide for convention and visitor services through April 30, 2026. The agreement is funded by accommodations tax revenue.
  • Approved a pair of funding requests of $15,000 each to support two local summer events: The Midwest Invitational Rodeo at the E.E. Cummings Center and an International Friendly Soccer Match between the Flint City Bucks and Atlas FC. Both requests are funded by accommodations tax revenue.
  • Approved a grant award from the Ruth Mott Foundation for the 2025 North Flint Public Safety Strategy, in the amount of $390,000.00, for continuation of Keep Genesee County Beautiful.
