Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Here’s a recap of some of the action:

  • The Board of Commissioners approved the following appointments to various local boards and commissions: George Wilkinson to the Bishop Airport Authority (3-year term) and Anne Figueroa (partial term expiring 8/31/27). Two other appointments were postponed until the April 23 regular meeting in order to break a 4-4 tie (the second Genesee District Library appointment and the Genesee County Road Commission appointment).
  • Approved a purchase order in the amount of $78,818.80 to acquire licensing for a registration and queuing system for Genesee County’s ongoing tower project. The system will enhance the experience of residents who visit the new home of the Genesee County Administration.
  • Approved proclamations for 2025 Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month (April) and Crime Victims’ Rights Week (April 6-12).
  • The Board unanimously approved a letter of support for Priority Waste’s Materials Recovery, Processing and Transfer facility that will operate in the 1st District of Genesee County. The $40-million facility would create roughly 100 permanent jobs for an operation designed to sort and prepare recyclable materials.
