Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.
The meeting commenced with the approval of numerous reappointments and appointments to various boards and authorities. Mayor Nate Henry was reappointed to the MTA Board of Directors, where he will serve as a representative of the Small Cities & Villages Association until March 31, 2029. In addition, the Board approved the reappointments of Commissioners Charles Winfrey, James Avery and Dale Weighill to the Genesee County Land Bank Authority.
Commissioner Dr. Beverly Brown was appointed to the Land Bank Authority and Commissioner Gary Goetzinger was appointed for a partial term on the Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission.
The Board also took the following action:
- Approved an amendment to a contract between Genesee County and Hasselbring Senior Center Nonprofit Corporation to ensure funding for senior services and activities at a temporary new location at the Kennedy Life Center in Flint.
- Approved a contract between Genesee County and DLZ in an amount not to exceed $398,000 to provide architectural services for the design of the county’s Recycling and Education Center at the former McDonald Dairy Site in Flint.
- Approved a proposed amendment in an amount not to exceed $100,000 to provide for the continued operation of the senior center congregate meal program.
- Approved numerous requests from Genesee County Parks & Recreation to apply for grants to enhance the operations of our parks for the benefit of our residents. This reflects the county’s commitment to improving recreational facilities and promoting community engagement.
- Approved a contract between Genesee County and the Genesee County Intermediate School District (GISD) not exceeding $65,000 to provide violence prevention and intervention services.
